William Hill to take Scottish safer gambling ‘seriously’

William Hill’s head of media, sponsorship and social has insisted that the safer gambling commitments made as part of the evoke brand’s new Scottish football deal will be taken “seriously” and will deliver a “real impact.”

In June, the brand became the official title sponsor of Scotland’s four professional football leagues, the new season of which kicked off last weekend.

The five-year deal with the Scottish Professional Football League has also made the operator the SPFL’s new official betting partner.

As part of the deal, William Hill has partnered with EPIC Global Solutions, a provider of gambling harm prevention training and workshops, to launch a multi-year programme on gambling harm awareness Scottish football for players, staff and supporters.

“Over the course of the next five years we will be a proper supporter of Scottish Football,” Daryl West, the operator’s head of media, sponsorship and social wrote in a blog post for the Betting and Gaming Council.

“This means safer gambling is, and always will be, at the heart of William Hill and our sponsorship of the SPFL.

“We take our role seriously. Our programme isn’t one that will be delivered off-the-cuff; it’s a programme that is bespoke to Scottish football and designed to deliver real impact for all stakeholders.

“By combining this with our headline sponsorship, we will not only play our role in creating new memories for fans but also ensure that sports betting is as it is intended: social, fun, and safe.”

William Hill’s new sponsorship covers the William Hill Premiership, William Hill Championship, William Hill League 1 and William Hill League 2.
