Why Motherwell star Lennon Miller opted to represent Scotland U19s this month

Many thought Scotland head coach Steve Clarke would give the midfielder a call-up to his squad for the UEFA Nations League matches against Croatia and Poland in November.

However, Clarke opted to let the starlet remain in the younger age ranks. 

Discussing his son’s international prospects, Lee said on A View From The Terrace: “There are always rumours and hints of maybe he will get in that first-team squad. But Lennon is 18.

“He is enjoying playing with the 21s. Obviously, the 19s have important games coming up and he wants to play in those games.

“It was him that wanted to play in those games which I think is testament to himself.

“He just wants to play football and get as many minutes in the tank as possible. And enjoy playing with his age group that he’s grown up with and playing against and with over the years. I just like to see him enjoying playing football.

“The world is his oyster. He can be the player he thinks he can be. He’s confident but he’s not arrogant with it, if that makes sense. He just needs to concentrate on his club football and the rest will take care of itself.”
