This week Gleneagles has been ranked as the 41st best hotel in the world at the second edition of the World’s 50 Best Hotels awards in London.
It was the only hotel in the UK to be named on the list which was not found in London.
Opening in 1924, this “magnificent countryside estate” was first described as a “riviera in the Highlands”.
Today, the Scottish hotel continues to provide bespoke suites while offering an unrivalled array of facilities, including its award-winning spa and restaurants.
Why The Gleneagles Hotel is one of the best in the world, according to reviews
The Gleneagles Hotel has a very good rating on the travel-comparison site Tripadvisor with users giving it a 4.5/5 out of 5551 reviews.
It also boasts a high number of “excellent” and “very good” ratings, gaining 4345 and 671 respectively.
Visitors have praised the on-site Andrew Fairlie and Strathearn restaurants which serve high-quality food in beautiful dining settings.
One patron of the Andrew Fairlie restaurant, which has a Michelin Star, described the eatery as a “culinary delight”.
One reviewer added: “Restaurant Andrew Fairlie was expensive but given the quality, was good value. I have reviewed that separately but that was perfection.”
Visitors have also been left impressed by the range of activities on offer with those coming to this part of Scotland able to take part in clay pigeon shooting and golf.
One person wrote: “Activities are a must-do; we really enjoyed clay pigeon shooting (shooting facilities were excellent and the instructor was great).”
Discussing the golf courses, one user said: “I have played golf around the world and the 3 courses at Gleneagles are among my favourite courses anywhere.”
