Who does Hendry play for? Scot featuring at Euro 2024 after joining Saudi stars
Jack Hendry has returned to Europe this summer to play for Scotland at Euro 2024 in Germany.
Hendry has been plying his trade in Saudi Arabia but he is back on the continent to play his part in the Tartan Army’s Euro campaign.
The former Celtic defender is likely to feature for Steve Clarke’s side and talkSPORT.com has taken a look at where he plays his club football…
Who does Jack Hendry play for?
Hendry currently plays for Al-Ettifaq in Saudi Arabia.
The centre-back started all of his 34 appearances for the club this season.
He is managed by Liverpool and England legend Steven Gerrard and plays alongside Georginio Wijnaldum, Moussa Dembele and Demarai Gray.
After leaving Celtic in 2021, two years in Belgium and a loan spell in Serie A followed before Hendry made the £5million switch to the Middle East last summer.
The 29-year-old followed in the footsteps of many superstars by heading to the Saudi Pro League, joining Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema and Riyad Mahrez to name a few.
Those players faced criticism for being motivated by money, however, Hendry denies the huge paycheck was his reason for joining.
Speaking to the Daily Telegraph in May, he said: “Certainly not [just focused on money].
“I want to do well and win things and I have done that at my previous clubs – at Celtic, at Club Brugge.
“Everyone is very friendly, very accommodating. Until you are out here you might not see that.
“The British press like to put stuff down but I can certainly say it’s a very good lifestyle.”
Hendry has swapped the Saudi lifestyle for Germany this month and he is hoping to play his part in a successful Euro 2024 campaign.
Scotland begin their tournament on the opening night against the hosts on Friday, live on talkSPORT, before taking on Switzerland and Hungary.
