When is Scotland’s Euro 2024 squad announcement? Clarke to confirm Tartan Army
Scotland are hoping for a successful summer as they prepare for Euro 2024.
The Tartan Army qualified for the tournament after finishing second in their group behind Spain, denying Erling Haaland’s Norway a place in the process.
All eyes are now on Germany as the Scots aim to get further than they did in 2020 when they were unable to progress through the group stage.
Manager Steve Clarke will be hoping for success and he is now set to confirm his squad…
When is Scotland’s Euro 2024 squad announcement?
Scotland’s squad for Euro 2024 will be announced on Wednesday, May 22.
This will just be a preliminary squad though, with UEFA’s deadline for the final squads set for June 7.
Clarke can select 26 players for his team after it was increased from the usual 23.
He will be picking his best available stars to take to Germany where they will face the hosts, Hungary and Switzerland in Group A.
The squad chosen on May 22 will play a friendly against Gibraltar on June 3 before revisions can be made up until June 7 when they face Finland in their final game before the Euros.
Scotland could be without some key players for the tournament though.
Bologna midfielder Lewis Ferguson has been ruled out of Euro 2024 after undergoing surgery following a season-ending injury.
Stuart Armstrong also suffered a serious issue towards the end of the campaign and he is now facing a race against time to be fit.
Manchester United’s Scott McTominay will be part of the squad and so will Aston Villa’s John McGinn as they make up part of the midfield.
Nathan Patterson, Aaron Hickey, Grant Hanley and Kieran Tierney are all currently injured and will be hoping to recover in time.
Scotland’s Euro 2024 campaign begins on June 14 as they play in the tournament opener against Germany.
