What odds are Scotland to win Euro 2024? Our predictions for Tartan Army

‘OPTIMISM’ has been the buzzword in the build-up to Euro 2024.

And while that gets you so far, Steve Clarke’s men have their work cut out to even progress out Group A.

That’s according to the bookmakers anyway, who have Scotland as the favourites to finish BOTTOM of the group.

Ask any of the Tartan Army though and that’s a wild price!

But just where do Scotland rank amongst Europe’s elite in the betting markets for Euro 2024?

What odds are Scotland to win Euro 2024?

Despite a stellar qualification campaign and the excitement and feelgood factor sweeping the nation, the bookmakers give Scotland next to no hope of winning the tournament.

Maybe underdogs suits Clarke’s men best. They’ve nothing to lose going there.

The camp has been rocked by several key injuries which obviously doesn’t help.

But as it stands there are only six teams out of the 24 with bigger odds to win the tournament than Scotland.

Scotland are currently 100/1 to win Euro 2024 with William Hill.

Who are favourites to win Euro 2024?

The bookmakers make England – who’ve never won this tournament – the current favourites to win the Euros.

Gareth Southgate’s side (3/1), lead World Cup runners-up France (4/1), Scotland’s Group A opponents and host nation Germany (5/1) and the Spanish and Portuguese (8/1) in the outright betting.

It then moves to double figure prices, showing only a handful of sides have been given a realistic chance by the bookies.

  • Belgium 20/1

  • Serbia 80/1
  • Austria 80/1

At the other end of the list, Scotland are joined by Poland and Ukraine at 100/1 odds.

While only Romania, Czech Republic, Slovenia as well as 500/1 shots Albania, Slovakia and Georgia are bigger odds than Scotland to win.

Group foes Hungary and Switzerland are both 80/1.

What odds are Scotland to get out the group at Euro 2024?

Now this is where the odds are a little unfair against Scotland. But fair for the punter….

In terms of purely getting out the group and into the last-16, Scotland are a shade odds-on at 4/5 with William Hill.

But that’s still a bigger price than Germany (1/20), Switzerland (8/15) and Hungary (8/13).

They’ve also been quoted at Evens to finish bottom of Group A, Clarke’s side.

Winning the group? Now you’re talking! Scotland are as big as 8/1 to top Group A after their three matches.

While a top 2 finish, which looks the soundest bet of the lot, is a fairly generous 11/8.

Who will be Scotland’s top goal scorer at Euro 2024?

This is proving to be a difficult market for the bookmakers, particularly without knowing who’ll lead the line.

But you wonder if Steve Clarke himself knows that either at this stage.

Given that, there’s some decent value to be had in this market.

As it stands, Lawrence Shankland is 7/2 with William Hill to be Scotland’s top scorer, with Che Adams just behind at 4/1.

John McGinn 9/2 is next, just ahead of qualification hero Scott McTominay who looks great value at 5/1.

No Scotland goalscorer is a 14/1 shot…

Predictions for Scotland at Euro 2024

We’re going to win it, of course! In all seriousness, it’s always going to be worth a pound or two.

Looking at it from a logical betting angle, the 11/8 about a top two finish looks a tempting price, or the 4/5 about Scotland getting out the group.

Once you’re out the group, there’s just one game until the quarter finals and not only can Scotland reach the last-16, they can go one better and book a quarter final spot at 3/1.

In terms of top goal scorer, neither of the front two are a tempting price. We could be relying on set pieces so someone like a Grant Hanley at 50/1 could be a good shout if he grabs a couple.

But the safer play is with Ryan Christie, who had a great season at Bournemouth and is a player Steve Clarke trusts to turn up when he needs him most.
