West Indies top group after big win over Scotland | Loop Trinidad & Tobago
Afy Fletcher and Quiana Joseph starred for the West Indies as they whipped Scotland by six wickets with 50 balls to spare on Sunday and moved to the top of Group B at the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup.
Leg-spinner Fletcher took 3 for 22 in her four overs to restrict the Scots to 99 for 8 in their 20 overs.
Chinelle Henry took 1 for 10 in her four overs, while Hayley Matthews (1/21) and Karishma Ramharack (1/24) also took wickets.
Alisa Lister (26) and Kathryn Bryce (25) shared a 46-run partnership for the third wicket for Scotland before Fletcher and a series of run-outs decimated the middle- and lower-order.
West Indies lost star batters Matthews (8), Stafanie Taylor (4), and Shemaine Campbell (2) cheaply.
However, Joseph (31) held the innings together before Deandra Dottin (28 not out) and Henry (18 not out) put on an unbroken match-winning stand of 42.
West Indies won with 8.2 overs to spare, boosting their net run rate to 1.154 and placing them at the top of Group B.
Scotland has lost their first two matches and is in danger of elimination.
West Indies lost their opening match to South Africa by 10 wickets and faces Bangladesh in their next match on 10 October at Sharjah.
