Weather maps reveal exact date Storm Darragh to hit Scots with rain, wind & SNOW
STORM Darragh is set to batter Scotland with blizzards, torrential downpours and 80mph winds this weekend.
The Met Office has issued yellow and amber warnings for wind and rain as the fourth named storm of the season hurtles towards the UK.
They warned that Scots could face danger-to-life conditions from tomorrow all the way through until Sunday.
And weather maps have now revealed the exact date and time that the storm will batter the nation.
Snaps from WX Charts show that snow and heavy rain is set to fall over most of Scotland from 6pm on Friday.
As the night progresses, most of the country will be covered in the white stuff.
By 9pm on Friday night, blizzards will have battered the central belt, Highlands and the west coast.
The southern parts of Scotland will also see some snow.
While the east coast and the Orkney Islands will be blasted with torrential downpours.
Gusts of up to 80mph are also expected across the natiom late on Friday and into Saturday morning.
The warning for “potentially damaging” winds is in place for the west coast of the UK from South Ayrshire in Scotland down to Cornwall.
It is in place on Saturday from 3am until 9pm.
A separate yellow warning for wind has been issued for southern Scotland from 3pm on Friday until 6am on Sunday.
Much of England and Wales are also expected to be among the worst-hit areas.
The Met Office warns there is a good chance of areas being hit with power cuts and potentially some damage to buildings.
The forecaster also said travel disruption is highly likely with trains, buses and ferry services facing cancellations and delays.
A spokesperson for the Met Office said: “A period of very strong northerly or northwesterly winds is likely to develop during Saturday as Storm Darragh moves from west to east.
“Gusts of 70 to 80 mph are likely around exposed coasts and headlands, where some very large waves are likely, whilst gusts of 60 to 70 mph are likely inland.
