[Watch] Scotland Wreak Havoc As Trumpelmann’s Wicket Brings Namibia’s Downfall

Namibia had a disastrous start in their ongoing T20 World Cup 2024 match against Scotland at the Kensington Oval Barbados on June 7, 2024. After winning the toss and opting to bat, the Namibian openers and middle order failed to provide a solid foundation, leading to a rapid collapse.

The situation deteriorated further in the 18th over when Ruben Trumpelmann was dismissed. Facing a back-of-a-length delivery targeting the stumps, Trumpelmann attempted to whip the ball over deep backward square leg.

However, he mistimed his shot, which resulted in the ball soaring towards Bradley James Currie, who comfortably caught the skier, which exceeded Namibia’s batting woes.

Earlier in the match, Namibia managed to post a total of 155/9 in their 20 overs after winning the toss against Scotland. The Scottish bowlers bowled well during the powerplay, but they couldn’t maintain their momentum in the middle overs.

Namibia’s innings began poorly, with JP Kotze (0), Nikolaas Davin (20), and Jan Frylinck (12) falling inside the powerplay. Gerhard Erasmus and Zane Green then initiated a recovery, and made a much-needed partnership of over 50 runs for the fifth wicket.

Erasmus continued his composed innings, scoring a half-century but eventually got out for 52 runs off 31 balls. Towards the end, Namibia lost several wickets in quick succession, finishing at 155/9.

For Scotland, Brad Wheal was the standout bowler, taking three wickets. Bradley Currie supported him well, picking up two wickets, while Christopher Sole, Chris Greaves, and Michael Leask each took one wicket.
