WATCH: Scotland international throws ‘disgustingly good’ 30-metre assist in Premiership clash

Northampton Saints and Scotland centre Rory Hutchinson was on hand to deliver potentially the assist of the season in his side’s defeat to Bristol Bears last night.

In the 79th minute, Hutchinson connected with James Ramm to finish off a superb try for the Saints, but it was too little too late as Bristol claimed a 31-23 win at Ashton Gate.

Rory Hutchinson throws brilliant assist

Hutchinson had been threatening to break away all night against the Bears, but he finally managed to unpick the defence in the final acts of the game.

A brilliant carry saw him slice through the Bristol defence and charge deep into enemy territory. With the defence beginning to close down the Scotland international, James Ramm appeared in acres of space on the right wing; and that’s where it gets silly.

Bristol Bears regain top spot with fine comeback win over Northampton Saints

At full tilt, Hutchinson throws a ridiculous 30-metre pass out to his winger, who gleefully collects it and coasts over in the corner for the try.

The try ultimately had little effect on the result in the end, as Northampton fell to defeat, but it certainly attracted huge praise on social media as fans across the game shared their thoughts.

“This pass is disgustingly good”, one person tweeted. Another fan described the pass as “perfect”. Others also pointed out the skill behind the pass, highlighting how each player was “inch-perfect” in their roles in the try.

This pass is certainly an early contender for assist of the season, and it’ll certainly take some beating!
