TPE issues ‘Do Not Travel’ message between Preston and Scotland after derailment | RailBusinessDaily

TransPennine Express (TPE) is asking customers not to travel between Preston and Scotland today (Thursday 30 May).

This is due to major disruption caused by a freight train derailment on the route.

The operator has urged customers not to travel on the following routes:

Between Preston and Glasgow Central (in both directions)
Between Preston and Edinburgh (in both directions)

Kathryn O’Brien, Customer Experience and Transformation Director for TransPennine Express, stated: “We are urging anyone travelling today (Thursday 30 May) across the affected routes to defer their travel or claim a refund.”

TPE added that customers can check their services via the TPE website: www.tpexpress.co.uk/travel-updates or at www.nationalrail.co.uk

Ticket acceptance and refunds

Those with tickets for Thursday 30 May for services between Preston, to Carlisle, Glasgow and Edinburgh are advised not to travel and to claim a full refund: www.tpexpress.co.uk/help/refunds

Customers with tickets for travel on Thursday 30 May can alternatively use their tickets up to and including Friday 31 May.
