Theo Bair: Motherwell at ‘advanced stage’ for striker sale
Motherwell are “at an advanced stage” to sell striker Theo Bair, manager Stuart Kettlewell has confirmed.
Reports on Sunday said the 24-year-old is on the way to Auxerre in France, but Kettlewell would not divulge any details.
However, the Fir Park boss did say that the fee being discussed for the Canada international was higher than suggested in the media, claiming the figures had been “under shot”.
Bair has been on Copa America duty, making his tournament debut as a substitute in Saturday’s third-place play-off defeat to Uruguay.
“We are at an advanced stage in terms of Theo moving on,” said Kettlewell.
“I’ve seen so many reports and there’s not one accurate in terms of the numbers.
“He’s just finished with Canada. There have been a lot of conversations and I’ve been really transparent with some of the bids that have been turned down.
“But I’m now thinking it will start to move over the next 24 to 48 hours.”
Bair played in all 38 league games for Motherwell last season, scoring 15 goals, and has one year remaining on his contract.
