The Times view on the John Blain racism investigation: Draw Stumps
There are many disturbing aspects to the way two leading Scottish sports organisations have handled allegations of racism made against one of Scotland’s most distinguished cricketers. Not the least of them is their failure to exonerate him publicly once the allegations were exposed as baseless.
Six months ago Cricket Scotland was presented with the result of its own year-long investigation into claims of racism made against one of the country’s leading players, John Blain, by two former team-mates, Majid Haq and Qasim Sheikh. Carried out by a legal team appointed by the cricketing body itself, the report exonerated Blain and another player, and found the allegations made against them had been untested, unproven and untrue.
It brought to an end a three-year ordeal endured by
