Ten Scottish Premiership teams continue run-in
Levein has faith in second-bottom Saintspublished at 17:29
FT: Aberdeen 1-0 St Johnstone
St Johnstone manager Craig Levein tells BBC Scotland he is still confident his side can avoid a relegation despite dropping into second-bottom place after defeat in Aberdeen.
“It is important we put that to one side and forget about it,” he says. “We’ve played the two best teams in the bottom six and we’ve got Livingston, Ross County and Motherwell to play.
“Tough challenges, but I think we can get nine points.”
As for the game at Pittodrie, he though “it was a game of two halves”.
“I thought the first half we were really good,” Levein says. “We had chances and we didn’t take them. Second half we weren’t so good – I thought Aberdeen were better.
“The game, which wasn’t a classic, was decided by a penalty and, having seen it again, I think it was soft. If it was us, I’d be asking for a penalty, but I do think it was soft.
“TWe had chances in the first half. We had to raise our performance in the second half, but we didn’t do that.”
