Tartan Army hero’s son announces himself as Man Utd star with stunning double

THEY’RE two of the most talked about twins in the UK.

Darren Fletcher‘s sons Jack and Tyler were stand-outs in the youth ranks at Manchester City before the Utd technical director persuaded them both to CROSS the city to United.

And there’s similar machinations going on at international level – where both the boys have represented Scotland, but Jack most recently represented England – with the two kids even playing against each other in an Auld Enemy clash.

Given Darren’s status as a bona fide Tartan Army hero – he was out supporting Scotland as part of the mass invasion of Germany for Euro 2024 this summer – Scotland fans haven’t given up on BOTH of the boys wearing the dark blue of Scotland long-term.

And there was a signal of exactly what the Scots could be missing out on if Jack continues onto England with a match-winning cameo from the bench for Manchester United‘s Under-21 side last night.

They were taking on Barnsley‘s Under-21 side at Oakwell in the group stages of the Football League trophy.

And things weren’t looking group for the young Old Trafford squad when Barnsley raced into a two-goal lead courtesy of a double from Vigal Yogmanathan.

But the arrival of Jack Fletcher on 57 minutes signalled a change in the tide of the game in the last ten minutes.

He had a hand in Ethan Ennis’ first goal for Utd, then took centre stage.

First he lashed in a sublime left foot volley from fully 30 yards then he cut in off the right to find the net with another clever left foot finish.

Ironically, he ran off after his first goal to celebrate in front of a United fans’ banner which read: “United > England’.

Fans of the Old Trafford club have an interesting relationship with the English national team.

Fletcher also turned heads when he appeared against Rangers in a pre-season friendly at Murrayfield.

Jack Fletcher can still change allegiance before his 21st birthday to represent the full Scotland squad.

And one fan wrote: “Needs to hurry up and declare for Scotland.

“His twin brother is in Scotland under 19s squad. Would be lovely for them both to follow in their father’s steps.”
