New Delhi: Defending champion England’s T20 World Cup campaign against Scotland was rained off in Bridgetown, Barbados, while the Netherlands defeated Nepal by six wickets in Texas.

England’s game was first truncated to 10-overs-per-side with Scotland posting 90/0 but then rain arrived again at the innings break for the match to get abandoned and both teams to get a point each.

England were to chase a revised target of 109 runs in 10 overs under the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern system as Michael Jones remained unbeaten on 45 from 30 balls.

He struck two sixes and four fours while George Munsey was not out on 41 off 31 balls with four boundaries and two sixes.

Rain initially forced a delay of 20 minutes after the toss, while a longer break had to be taken after the powerplayas Scotland reached 51/0 in 6.2 overs.

Then a heavy shower forced match officials to shorten the game to 10 overs per innings as Chris Jordan (0/24) and Adil Rashid (0/26) leaked runs as the Scottish openers looked comfortable on the pitch.

Scotland’s next game is against Namibia at the Kensington Oval on Friday, while England take on Australia at the same venue on Saturday.

Max O’Dowd stars

The Netherlands defeated Nepal in a low-scoring thriller by six wickets with Max O’Dowd anchoring them to victory.

O’Dowd scored an unbeaten 54 off 48 balls with four fours and a six as the Dutchmen chased down a 107-run target in 18.4 overs.

Earlier, the Netherlands bowlers shot out Nepal for 106 in 19.2 overs as Tim Pringle (3/20), Paul van Meekeren (2/19), Bas de Leede (2/22) and Logn Van Beek (3/18) all impressed as Nepal found runs hard to come by.
