Additionally, Australia host Scotland earlier in the day (on Saturday evening in the Caribbean) in a match that will decide which team joins them in the Super 8s, unless the Namibia-England match that takes place earlier ends in a washout.
Here’s a quick look at the matches in store on Sunday:
Match 35, Australia vs Scotland
After his team’s victory over Namibia, Australia pacer
Josh Hazlewood had stated
that it would be “in their best interest” to see England eliminated from the tournament.
The comments led many to believe the 2021 T20 world champions would engage in a bit of Net Run-Rate manipulation in their match against Scotland on Sunday to try and ensure their arch-rivals stayed at the third place and crash out of a World Cup in the group stage for the second time in less than a year. Either that, or Hazlewood was joking in his post-match comments.
Whether Australia try and stretch the game against Scotland or not, the Mitchell Marsh-led side will be hoping to collect their fourth win in as many outings and enter the the Super 8s, where they have already have the ‘B2’ seeding’ high on confidence.
Australia vs Scotland will be played at the Daren Sammy National Stadium in Gros Islet, St Lucia at 6 AM IST.
Match 36, Pakistan vs Ireland
There’s no such drama in Group A, however, where India and USA have already qualified for the second round with the former finishing at the top of the table. Pakistan and Ireland lock horns in what will be the final match of the tournament for both teams in Lauderhill, Florida, with the Babar Azam-led side hoping to sign off from what has been a disappointing tournament for them so far on a winning note.

After all, all three matches that have taken place at the venue so far in the tournament — including Saturday’s

fixture — have ended in washouts, with the Pakistan-Ireland clash facing a similar threat.
Pakistan vs Ireland will be played at the Central Broward Regional Park Stadium in Lauderhill, Florida at 8 PM IST.
