Steve Clarke proud of Jock Stein record as Cristiano Ronaldo prepares for Glasgow
Steve Clarke said he was proud even to be mentioned in the same breath as Jock Stein and Andy Roxburgh as he prepared to move ahead of them and become the second longest-serving permanent Scotland manager.
The Nations League tie against Portugal on Tuesday — where the visitors’ superstar Cristiano Ronaldo will play at Hampden for the first time in his career — will be Clarke’s 62nd game since he took over in 2019. Stein and Roxburgh also had reigns which lasted 61 matches, although Stein did also have an earlier seven games in charge on a part-time basis while he managed Celtic.
