St Johnstone: Craig Levein sacked – who will replace him?

Lex McQueen: 100% the correct decision. His tactics were dreadful. We were an awful watch. TBH I’m not sure what [chairman] Adam Webb will go for. Andy Kirk isn’t the answer – possibly Ian Murray is in with a shout. We need experience but not as archaic as Levein – we just have to be patient and trust Mr Webb to call this one right. Possibly he’ll look at Europe.

Malcom Forbes: Well done St Johnstone. Barry Robson for the job.

Rick: Absolutely the correct decision and should have happened back in May. Problem is the new manager will have a team that has no goalkeeper and cannot defend. I’d prefer a younger, hungry manager. We need to stay away from the old guard – unless Tommy Wright can be convinced to come back.

Steve Webster: Anyone with a personality would be a step up, and I mean that seriously. I’m a season ticket holder and his management has been woeful.

Ian Miller: Despite some early promise to his tenure, that quickly disappeared and last season was torture from December onwards. Although it looks like we have more firepower this time round, defensive frailties are coming up every week and costing us valuable points. Feels like a change is needed, it will be interesting to see if the board has a plan.

Brian Angus: Has to be Ian Murray as the new manager, with Andy Kirk as his number two.

Roy Spiers: A decent man who unearthed some diamonds but didn’t energise fans. Saved us from relegation, but results weren’t good enough this season. Really hope we don’t hop on the usual merry-go-round of out-of-work Scottish managers. There’s time to get the right person, but they’ll need to be attack minded and ready to shape the raw talent in the squad.

Anonymous: I think it is the right decision, yes. He did well to keep us up last year but we look bereft of ideas now. I’d like to see us ask the question of David Marshall whether he fancies management.

Joe Logswood: Dave Mackay.
