Squad selection issues facing England and Scotland before Euro 2024 & football latest

Tom, in London: Here are my selections from my office chair. What a remarkable job Southgate has on his hands. Not easy, but not a bad problem to have!

Left behind: Henderson, Dunk, Toney, Quansah, Maddison, Jones and Gallagher.

Wildcard: Wharton – composed, steady and comfortable. Unlikely to usurp Rice, Alexander-Arnold, Bellingham or Mainoo, but those four can all go forward as well and he could free them up to do so.

Thanks for your input Tom. Hard to argue with any of that. Certainly a strong starting XI, although Henderson did not make Southgate’s provisional squad, so you will have to pick another player to leave out of the final 26.
