Shocking moment radio host compares Scotland Euro 2024 supporters to cockroaches

SCOTLAND supporters in the Tartan Army have won plenty of fans in Germany.

The huge delegation – estimated to be well in excess of 100,000 – brought Munich’s main square to a stand-still and paraded through Cologne for recent matches.

And their pre-match party vibe has won them plenty of plaudits with their latest city hosts branding them the ‘best fans in the world’.

That COULD lead to a collective award for their good-natured revellry which saw airport bars – and some in Munich – run out of beer.

VisitCologne tourism boss Dr Jürgen Amann praised our “exuberant and peaceful” footsoldiers, and said: “There should be an award for the most powerful vocal support at the Euros.”

Two fans even won the hearts by helping an elderly resident through a downpour by holding umbrellas over him to shelter his walk through the storm.

But not everyone is a fan, it seems.

Outspoken radio host Simon Jordan was caught on air calling the Tartan Army COCKROACHES in a shocking moment on talkSPORT.

The former Crystal Palace owner now shares a daily mid-morning programme with former Scotsport frontman Jim White and the duo welcomed Graeme Souness on air on Friday morning.

And after discussing the topics of the day – including Souness’ close call to taking the Scotland job and England‘s 1-1 draw with Denmark, Jordan let slip shortly after 11am.

As White introduced Souness from their base in Frankfurt the broadcasters were joined by some of the Tartan Army.

He said: “Would you believe it – good morning everybody – the good people in Germany the Scots have arrived Graeme, and Graeme Souness is with us guys.”

Souness laughed: “We get everywhere!”

At that point Jordan was caught on the mic uttering “Like cockroaches…”

But White went on: “We get everywhere but will be get any further after this weekend and the match with Hungary – that’s up for debate but the Scots are here in big numbers and we are delighted about that.”

The shocking remark didn’t seem to be picked up of challenged by his fellow panellists but won’t go down well with the Tartan Army who have already called out BBC host Gary Lineker TWICE for digs at Steve Clarke and his team.

Lineker was accused of a sarky comment after the national team boss was interviewed on air and then later of LAUGHING at the team while analysing Hungary’s defeat to Germany.

Despite the anger from viewers Lineker has insisted he DOES want Scotland to do well at the tournament and was “chuffed” with the point picked up against Switzerland.

However later in his show Jordan echoed similar sentiments after his outburst and said: “What do I want to see for Scottish fans who are brilliant fans? I want to see Scotland producing a result that gets them through the group.

“What do I expect to see? Scottish bags on the carousel.
