Shock moment Scotland fans fight amongst themselves as Hampden brawl erupts

SHOCK images show Scotland fans trading blows at Hampden last night as tempers frayed during the Nations League clash with Poland.

Footage from the 3-2 defeat at Hampden which was widely shared on social media shows fans involved in the fracas, with punches being thrown while two grown men wrestle in the stands.

While other fans located in the area look on aghast, one fan ends up half naked with his jumper dragged over his head, while his assailant ends up on all fours on the stairway.

Another supporter in the same row is flattened by a couple of punches as stewards and fellow fans attempt to restore calm.

It’s unclear what exactly triggered the bust-up although it’s thought the ugly scenes were believed to have occurred at half time during the Hampden showdown.

Scotland were trailing 2-0 at that point, with tempers likely to be running high despite what was generally a decent showing from the national team.

There then followed a dramatic second half fightback, courtesy of goals from Billy Gilmour and Scott McTominay.

All that hard work, though, was undone in injury time when Grant Hanley lunged in on Nicola Zalewski with the Roma winger picking himself to fire in a penalty which Angus Gunn couldn’t keep out.

The incident comes months after the Tartan Army were PRAISED for their behaviour in Germany

It’s been a fraught summer for supporters of the Scotland national team, with fans stumping up huge sums to travel for Germany only to feel let down as Scotland exited the competition tamely.

Next up for Scotland and their fans is a trip to the Algarve as Portugal lie in wait in Faro.

Cristiano Ronaldo warmed up for the match by scoring his 900th senior goal to settle a 2-1 Nations League win over Croatia.
