Scottish Hospitality Group Urges Labour to Prioritise Brand Scotland – Scottish Business News

The Scottish Hospitality Group has issued a statement following Labour’s win in the UK General Election, congratulating Sir Keir Starmer on becoming Prime Minister while outlining key priorities for the hospitality sector.

Brand Scotland is a key initiative that has gained significant attention in the hospitality sector following Labour’s recent election victory.

This initiative is seen as a crucial opportunity to promote Scotland’s unique identity, boost tourism, and drive economic growth in the hospitality sector.

It is expected that Brand Scotland will play a major role in showcasing the country’s rich cultural heritage, natural beauty, and world-class hospitality offerings

Stephen Montgomery, Director and Spokesperson for Scottish Hospitality Group emphasised the need for immediate action on manifesto promises and engagement on critical industry issues.

Stephen Montgomery, said, “We congratulate Sir Keir Starmer on his win in the General Election, and on taking the position of Prime Minister.

“We would now encourage Sir Kier Starmer to immediately start putting in place the promises made in the Labour Manifesto, and bring forward his party plans for Brand Scotland, in which hospitality will play a major role.

“Immediate concerns are around issues such as VAT for hospitality, and labour shortages, where we would welcome discussions on a working visa for hospitality workers.

“Further discussions are required on the ongoing concerns on the legislation on Tronc due to come into effect in October.

“The Scottish Hospitality Group have always had a good working relationship with Scottish and UK Labour, and we look forward to working further with Anas Sarwar and his team, to promote hospitality, and to help bring positive change to policies which will allow the sector to grow.”

The Scottish Hospitality Group’s statement reflects a proactive approach to engaging with the new Labour government on critical issues facing the hospitality sector.

By highlighting specific concerns such as VAT rates, labour shortages, and upcoming legislation on Tronc, the Scottish Hospitality Group demonstrates its commitment to advocating for policies that support industry growth.
