Scottish golf technology firm in expansion move

The move follows a £6.6 million fundraising completed earlier this year with the investment led by Guinness Ventures. Set up in 2014 by chief executive David Hunter, the company is looking to boost revenues via expansion abroad.

“We’re thrilled to announce Shot Scope is moving to our fantastic new office space,” Mr Hunter said.

“The company has grown internationally in the past two years with customers in over 160 countries.  The move allows us to continue our ambitious growth plans servicing customers worldwide from the Home of Golf here in Scotland.”

Shot Scope has raised more than £18m in funding to date which includes support from Scottish Enterprise, which has provided £1.75m of innovation funding and £3.3m of investment into the company.

“Shot Scope is a fantastic example of an ambitious Scottish business who are developing innovative golf technologies for international markets,” Scottish Enterprise chief executive Adrian Gillespie said.

Shot Scope’s tracking devices record more than 100 statistics to allow golfers to analyse their rounds with the aim of shooting lower scores. The company’s products have collected more than 350 million shots and have been used by hundreds of thousands of golfers worldwide, saving them an average of 4.1 strokes per round.

Along with Mr Hunter, the expanding team includes technology experts, golfers, and a former Walker Cup player.
