Dick Campbell has been managing in the lower leagues of Scottish football for almost 40 years and with eight different clubs.

And he was snapped next to the United great during the European match.

Ferguson was even seen sporting a matching flat cap, Campbell’s famous touchline attire.

Campbell most notably took Brechin from League Two to the Championship in the 2000s and did the same with Arbroath a few years ago, coming within a whisker of guiding the Gayfield Park men to the Premiership.

He’s now in charge of East Fife and has lifted them from eighth in League Two when he was appointed in February to third and pushing for promotion.

Sir Alex has recently snapped up a new flat in Glasgow to be closer to his brother and his ‘other team’ Rangers.

The Scot was also spotted next to East Fife coach John Young in the second half at Old Trafford.

Meanwhile, James Penrice is eyeing up a Scotland cap after spending time in the third tier.

The Hearts left-back won League One with Partick Thistle three years ago, and arrived at Tynecastle from Livingston in the summer.

The 25-year-old can’t believe his whirlwind rise, but has now set his sights even higher.

He said: “Playing where I was last year and then coming here and playing in big European nights, it’s been good.

“The big games every couple of days and then playing in Europe was a massive attraction for me and I’m just glad I’m doing it.

“Even the Conference League song getting played before the match, it was a bit of a weird one the first time I heard it.

“The gaffer and I had a conversation about my ambitions for my career and I mentioned Scotland was one of them.

“I don’t see why not, I’m at a huge club and if I keep playing then I’ve got to be there.”
