Scotland’s Michael Jones’ Huge Strike Breaks Solar Panel At Kensington Oval- WATCH

A six from Scotland batter Michael Jones‘ bat went on to crack a solar panel at the Kensington Oval in Barbados, during their T20 World Cup game against England on Tuesday. The incident happened in the sixth over of Scotland’s innings. Chris Jordan bowled a slower delivery to Michael Jones, who pulled it over deep square leg for a six.

The ball went and hit one of the solar panels at the Kensington Oval in Barbados, which got a crack in it. Jones hit four fours and two sixes during his 30-ball 45-run knock.

Jones was ably supported by fellow opener George Munsey, who scored a 31-ball 41. Watch the video here:

The solar panel-cracking six was one of the shots that Jones and Munsey played in their fiery start to the game. Although they had luck on their sides, with some edges falling short and Munsey being dropped once, the Scotland batters played with confidence.

During the seventh over, while Scotland looked set at 51/0, rain came down. The game had already began about an hour late because of a wet outfield and this was the second delay.

The Kensington Oval management undertook the initiative to put up the solar panels just before the ongoing marquee event, spending a whopping two million dollars to produce over 700kW of electricity.

“The benefit is twofold, from a monetary standpoint. We have historically spent hundreds of thousands of dollars a year on electricity. So that bill will be significantly reduced by the system. And then the impact, in terms of, you know, as an island, I think we’ve committed to being net zero by 2030,” Damien Gaskin, chairman of Kensington Oval Management Inc said in a media interaction earlier this month.

Meanwhile, intermittent rain forced abandonment of the T20 World Cup clash between England and Scotland in Barbados.
