Edinburgh Airport was closed down due to an unspecified information technology issue on Sunday afternoon, causing inconvenience for passengers as the busy holiday travel season began.
All flights in and out of Scotland’s busiest airport were grounded at 4:15 pm local time, with some incoming flights being diverted to Glasgow Airport, which is about 50 miles away.
Edinburgh Airport stated that engineers were working to resolve the issue.
In a public statement, the airport advised, “Passengers are asked to check the status of their flight with the airline they are flying with before traveling to the airport.”
