Scotland’s best summer holiday parks ranked – including ‘perfect relaxing break’

SCOTLAND’S best summer holiday parks have been revealed – with the “perfect relaxing break” taking top spot.

Consumer watchdog Which? ranked parks across the UK according to their customer satisfaction scores.

And one little-known brand has topped the list for Scotland.

So if you are looking for a staycation destination this summer, look no further.

According to experts, the best holiday park provider in Scotland is Forest Holidays, with an overall customer score of 80 per cent.

The Which? recommended provider offers forest escapes in 13 scenic woodland location across the UK.

And three are located in Scotland – Ardgartan in Argyll, Glentress Forest in Peebles, and Strathyre in Stirling.

Forest Holidays’ accommodation will still set you back £63pppn, and every lodging comes with a hot tub.

One satisfied customer said of the log cabins: “They are well distanced, so you are not disturbed, and the quietness and beauty of the forest make it feel very tranquil.”

Food, drinks and activities are not included in its self-catering parks.

Customers ranked cleanliness and quality of the accommodation four out of five stars.

But for value for money it scored a middling three stars.

Activities around the parks include nature walks, kayaking and cycling.

One guest said: “It’s possibly not a holiday for anyone looking for constant entertainment and activities like [at] Center Parcs.

“However, if you like long walks with your dog through forests and quiet paths, hill walking, cycling or just a bit of peace and quiet, it’s ideal.”

The overall verdict from Which? said: “Perfect for a relaxing break in nature, but the hot tub lodgings ramp up the cost.”

Second place in the Which? survey is Hoseasons with an overall customer score of 74 per cent.

The holiday provider has a large number of parks across the country.

Its most popular parks are located in the Cairngorms and Loch Lomond.

Hoseasons received four out of five stars for value for money, cleanliness and quality of accommodation.

Overall customer service only scored three stars, as well as quality of facilities.

Haven Holiday Parks was ranked third with a customer score of 69 per cent.

It has two locations in Scotland – Craig Tara in Ayr and Seton Sands near Edinburgh.

Haven was given three stars for value for money, overall customer service and cleanliness.

In fourth is Park Holidays with a 66 per cent customer score.

It has three locations in Scotland – Silversands, Turnberry and Lossiemouth.

Scotland’s holiday parks ranked

Forest Holidays – 80 per cent

Hoseasons – 74 per cent

Haven Holiday Parks – 69 per cent

Park Holidays – 66 per cent

Away Resorts – 64 per cent

Largo Leisure Parks – 64 per cent

Park Holidays only received two stars for value for money, customer service, and food and drink.

Cleanliness and quality of accommodation received three stars.

Away Resorts was fifth overall in Scotland with a score of 64 per cent.

It has three parks in Scotland in Glendevon, Moffat and Piperdam in Dundee.

Away Resorts also scored two stars for value for money and customer service.
