Scotland v Hungary LIVE commentary: Tartan Army face must-win clash in Stuttgart

Scotland must win their final group game to progress through to the Euro 2024 knockout stages tonight.

The Tartan Army kept their hopes alive with a hard-fought draw against Switzerland earlier this week.

That result was needed for Steve Clarke‘s side after a heavy defeat to Germany and they remain in with a chance of reaching the last 16 of this competition for the first time ever.

A win should see them go through as one of the best third-placed finishers while a draw would give them some very slim hope.

So three points will be the only aim for Scotland, but it will be a difficult challenge against Hungary who also need to win to have a chance of progressing.

This Euro 2024 clash takes place on Sunday, June 23.

Kick-off at the MHPArena in Stuttgart is scheduled for 8pm.

Scotland vs Hungary: Team news and squads

Kieran Tierney suffered what looked to be a serious injury against Switzerland as he was stretchered off the pitch.

And following the game, Tierney has now been sent home from the tournament to have his problem assessed.

Scott McKenna is likely to start in his place in the back three.

As for Hungary, they have no new issues and are likely to line-up similarly to their last outing with Liverpool‘s Dominik Szoboszlai as captain.

Scotland vs Hungary: What has been said?

Andy Robertson was pleased with Scotland’s performance to crucially avoid defeat against Switzerland last time out.

Tartan Army captain Robertson said: “We’ll take the draw and we’ve taken it into the last game, that’s all we can ask.

“It was about getting back to us and it was more like us. We have left everything out there today and that is what it takes to play for your country.

“We can take a lot of positives but we can also improve even more. That’s a good thing.”

Manager Clarke said: “This is the way we have been playing as a team for the last three or four years. It is why we are here at a major tournament.

“I thought it was a good team performance against a good opponent.

“It was a good reaction to a disappointing night and we are still alive in the tournament.”
