SCOTLAND will discover their opponents at next year’s Women’s Rugby World Cup next week.

Bryan Easson’s side will rubberstamp their place this weekend for the tournament that takes place in England throughout August and September.

The qualification process hasn’t been entirely clear from the start but all the nations currently competing in WXV2 – including Scotland – are expected to be represented when the draw is made live on the BBC’s The One Show next Thursday at 7pm.

A World Rugby statement read: “10 teams have already qualified, Canada, France, Brazil, Ireland, South Africa, Japan, USA, Fiji, reigning champions New Zealand, and hosts England, with the remaining six places to come from WXV 2024.

“The top four teams in the World Rugby Women’s Rankings (as of 14 October) will be placed into band 1 and prepopulated into the first position in each pool.

“The remaining 12 teams will be drawn into bands 2,3 and 4 based on their rankings and drawn one by one.”

BBC presenter Gabby Logan, wife of former Scotland international, Kenny, and Women’s Rugby World Cup winner Maggie Alphonsi, along with a presenter from The One Show, will host the draw.

The schedule of matches will then be released the following Tuesday (October 22) with fans able to apply for tickets from November 5 to 19.

Sarah Massey, Managing Director of Women’s Rugby World Cup 2025, said: “This is a significant milestone as fans will be able to plan their Women’s Rugby World Cup England 2025 experience.

“With over 60,000 tickets already sold, the demand and enthusiasm across the country is clear.

“We look forward to announcing the match schedule and expect high demand across the tournament and all around the country”.

Scotland will play their final WVX2 match against Australia this weekend, a meeting of the two undefeated teams in the group.

The defending champions have already recorded wins over Italy and Japan.
