In an emotional farewell to City fans, he shared how much his time at the club has meant to him.

Taking to social media, he wrote: “From a boy to a man, in a place that became my home.”

“I’ve made friends and memories for life.”

“A new chapter awaits but, I’ll never forget how special this one was.”

Conway had been with the Championship side since he was seven-years-old, and spent two loan moves with Yate Town and Bath City, respectively.

He was able to break into The Robins’ first-team in the 2022/23 season.

Wasting no time in getting started, Conway snagged the EFL Young Player of the Month award in August 2022.

He saw his domestic performances rewarded when national team manager Steve Clarke called him up to the senior squad and travelled to Germany for this summer’s Euros in June.

He made his international debut earlier that month as a substitute, replacing Lawrence Shankland in a friendly against Finland where the match finished 2-2.

Whilst being born in Taunton, England, Conway is eligible to play for Clarke’s side through his paternal grandfather, born in Stirling.

Scoring 20 goals in the Championship over the last two seasons, Middlesbrough boss Michael Carrick will be confident the forward can continue to deliver the goods in the second tier of English football.

Conway’s new team has started the season with two wins from two.

They came out on top in the opening league match, beating Swansea 1-0 and battering Leeds 3-0 in the EFL Cup.

Conway will be keen to get started with his new club and help continue this blistering start to the 2024/25 campaign.
