Scotland star Lewis Ferguson lined up for Milan move with other top club linked
LEWIS FERGUSON has taken to Serie A like a duck to water since joining Bologna in 2022.
And the Scotland star has reportedly attracted the attention of some of the league’s biggest clubs – and one of its biggest legends.
Ferguson captained Bologna back into the Champions League for the first time in decades last season, winning the Bulgarelli Award for best midfielder in Serie A.
The 25-year-old was also preparing to turn out for Scotland at Euro 2024, but suffered heartbreak as a cruciate ligament injury forced him to miss the tournament and the start of the current season.
The injury also put paid to a rumoured transfer to Italian giants Juventus, who had already appointed Ferguson’s former Bologna manager Thiago Motta and were reportedly planning a double swoop.
Now an Italian outlet are reporting that Juve remain interested in the midfielder, alongside another top Serie A side.

MilanLive.it say that AC Milan are weighing up a bid for Ferguson, and that the Scot would be open to the move.
Milan have disappointed in Italy this season and sit seventh in Serie A, with injured midfielder Ismael Bennacer reportedly not trusted by manager Paulo Fonseca.
It’s understood that Ferguson could be seen as the answer to Milan’s midfield issues – and is a favourite of the one of the Rossoneri’s football legend club advisers.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic had two spells with AC Milan, scoring 76 goals in 125 games for them, as well as turning out for rivals Inter Milan and Juventus.
The former Barcelona, PSG and Manchester United star now acts as a club adviser, and has reportedly told Milan to pursue Ferguson.
Ferguson is believed to be willing to move to a bigger Italian side, but only for an ‘exceptional opportunity’.
The ex-Aberdeen ace only signed his new contract with Bologna until 2028 last month, so any interested clubs would have to pay top price to land him – and Ferguson’s agent Bill McMurdo recently discussed the interest from around the world in his client.
McMurdo said: “We know that there was interest in the Premier League before the injury, but Lewis doesn’t feel he’s done in Serie A yet.
“It will always be rumored that Juve and other clubs are looking for him, but he is proud to be the captain of Bologna and he will continue to give 100 percent to the club.
“Lewis is a dedicated professional with huge ambitions, he has great self-belief and knows exactly what he wants to achieve in football.”
