Scotland rugby star and glam Wag spotted lapping up luxury at Trump Turnberry
NOW is the time for many of Scotland’s sporting stars to make the most of the close season.
It’s a short summer in this country as we know and even shorter for many top sports professionals.
But with Steve Clarke‘s men knocked out of the Euros at the weekend and the rugby season having drawn to a close, there is some room for down time over the next few weeks.
Some Rangers and Celtic stars have been spotted enjoying their holiday time with their Wags and for Scotland rugby ace Duhan van der Merwe, he and has stunning other half chose to head down the Ayrshire coast.
The couple enjoyed an indulgent stay at the luxurious Trump Turnberry Hotel & Resort, with Duhan ensuring he brought his clubs with him for a round of golf on the famous links.
Turnberry plays host to three courses alongside its elegant spa and restaurant offerings.
The Ailsa is without doubt the most revered, having hosted the Open four times between 1977 and 2009.
It’s a favourite of eight-time major winner Tom Watson, who was spotted playing at Prestwick just half an hour up the road a fortnight ago.
Alongside the Ailsa is the King Robert the Bruce course (formerly the Arran course) and there is a nine-hole track called the Wee Course, aimed at beginners.
The plush resort sits on the Firth of Clyde and offers breathtaking views across to Ailsa Craig, with the iconic Turnberry Lighthouse in between.
Duhan and Nika van der Merwe were guests at the hotel last week, along with their two French Bulldogs.
The Edinburgh winger, who was a star of the Six Nations this year for Scotland, said on Instagram: “Unbelievable getaway, thanks for looking after us @trumpturnberryscotland.”
In response, the official Instagram account for the resort said: “It was our absolute pleasure to host you. Thank you for visiting.”
Nika shared more images on her social media platforms, including of her and Duhan at dinner and their dogs posing in the grand corridors of the hotel.
She wrote on her Instagram: “Camera roll after three days at the dreamy Trump Turnberry.
“This will be one of the getaways we will always remember! Grateful for experiences like these with you (and the dogs).”
