Scotland hero loses injury battle to make Euro 2024 as Clarke ponders options
AARON HICKEY has lost his battle to be fit for the Euros.
SunSport can reveal the Brentford wingback won’t be in Steve Clarke‘s 26-man squad when it is announced on Wednesday.
Former Hearts and Bologna star Hickey, 21, hasn’t played since last October after suffering a serious hamstring injury.
Bees boss Thomas Frank revealed last week the latest update on his progress was not positive, sparking fears he’d miss the tournament.
It’s now understood SFA chiefs have given up hope that Hickey will be fit for any stage of the finals and will target replacements.
With Everton ace Nathan Patterson also out, Celtic‘s Anthony Ralston could be handed a slot in Clarke’s squad for Germany.

SunSport revealed this month that Bristol City‘s Ross McCrorie is also a candidate to make the pool Clarke names next week, though he can still make alterations until the final Uefa deadline on June 7.
