Scotland fans given flag update ahead of Euros opener against Germany
SCOTLAND fans have been told that they must adhere to three rules when it comes to taking flags and banners into the Allianz Arena for tonight’s match against Germany.
Steve Clarke‘s men open Euro 2024 against the hosts tonight in Munich.
Our writers have made their predictions for the big game – and it’s not the best outlook for the Dark Blues.
But when they look out at the fans in the stands this evening, they’ll be sure to take inspiration from the throngs of the Tartan Army in full voice.
Thousands of those supporters will be hoping to take flags and banners to the stadium but the many of them will have to follow three strict rules before entry to the 75,000-capacity ground.
An email thread has emerged online showing a conversation between one supporter and a supporter liaison officer.

Fans will have to arrive at the venue two hours before kick-off when the gates open, before having their flag inspected for fire and safety checks.
It will then be sprayed with a chemical to ensure it is fire-proof.
The email reads: “Dear Supporter,
“Apologies for the lateness of this communication, however we have been working on a solution with UEFA to get your registered flag into the stadium tonight.
“UEFA are going to allow your flag/banner into the stadium under the following conditions:
- You are present at the stadium for the gates opening at 18:00h
- Stewards, Volunteers and I (Supporter Liaison Officer) will be present at the North side of the stadium at Entrance 2. We will check the Fire Safety Certificate and contents of the flag
- The flag will be sprayed with a fire-retardant chemical to ensure compliance with the German Fire Brigade
“We would appreciate your cooperation with the above points to ensure that your flag can be accepted into the venue.
“In the unlikely event that your flag is rejected by stadium authorities there is a Storage Deposit located in the north side of the stadium next to the Ticket Help Point.
“Again, apologies for the lateness of the clarification and I hope you enjoy the match.”
