Scotland fans convinced uncapped ace set for Euros squad after spotting ‘clue’
IT’S Euro 2024 squad announcement day for Scotland fans.
And the Tartan Army are eagerly waiting to find out if boss Steve Clarke will spring any surprises when he reveals his picks this morning.
Scotland head coach Clarke will name a 28-man squad at Hampden today as preparations for Germany ramp up.
That initial list will have to be trimmed with only 26 names permitted when the final squad is confirmed prior to the tournament starting.
While key stars and stalwarts such as captain Andy Robertson, John McGinn and Scott McTominay are all certain picks, fans have been wondering who could come in from left-field.
SunSport exclusively revealed last month that Liverpool wonderkid Ben Doak was being considered for a shock call-up.
While we also told you that Aberdeen midfielder Connor Barron was another uncapped starlet who was in Clarke’s thinking.
But who else?
Well, Scotland fans reckon they’ve spotted a major hint that an uncapped English Premier League star could be about to enter the fold.
Newcastle United have three high profile players who are eligible to play for Scotland.
Harvey Barnes is eligible despite already being capped once by England while Elliot Anderson has already been called-up by Clarke once before dropping out of the squad.
And then there’s Tino Livramento.
The 21-year old was a bumper £40million signing for the Toon from Southampton last summer.
The former Chelsea youth was born in Croydon and has represented England from under-15 level all the way through to under-21s.
But, he’s also eligible to play for Scotland as his mother is from the country.
And fans have spotted what they reckon is a clue that Livramento, who made 32 appearances for Newcastle last season, could be about to be named in the Scotland squad.
Newcastle have jetted out to play Tottenham in a controversial friendly in Melbourne.
Controversial because it’s taking place just THREE days after the end of the competitive season.
Scotland fans have spotted that Livramento is NOT part of the Toon squad that has travelled to Australia.
One fan said: “Praying for Tino Livramento announcement at 11.”
A second said: “Ma Livramento will be a national hero if she’s persuaded him..”
A third commented: “Has Steve Clarke pulled it off?!?”
Scotland assistant coach John Carver said yesterday, however, that he would be “very surprised if there is a surprise” when the squad is named, hinting that there was little to come by way of anything unexpected.
However, there is an explanation for why Livramento probably hasn’t headed to Australia with his Newcastle teammates.
And that’s because he’s been INJURED.
Livramento was dealing with an ankle injury and it was an issue that forced him to miss the Toon’s last Premier League game of the season at Brentford on Sunday.

It’s therefore likely that Eddie Howe decided not to risk him in a friendly match on the other side of the world.
