Scotland fan raking in thousands by selling bottles of Buckfast to Tartan Army

A SMART-thinking Tartan Army businessman brought a little bit of Scotland to Germany by punting bottles of Buckfast in the Cologne party zone.

Allan Sheridan, 30, from Bellshill, Lanarkshire, shipped in a haul of the famous tonic wine loved by his fellow Scots ahead of tonight’s crunch match with Switzerland.

He set up shop just yards from the Alter Markt where a steady stream of foot soldiers couldn’t resist splashing some Euros on the sweet plonk.

Allan, who runs an exterior cleaning firm Aqua Force, said: “They’ve been selling like hot cakes.”

He added: “I’ve come all the way to Germany to try and keep the nation hydrated.

“They’ve been going well and I’ve sold a few cases and we will hopefully get rid of the rest today.

“We brought about 50 cases and travelled 1,500 miles in the van.”

Allan and his dad even had custom-made t-shirts saying, ‘No Buckfast, no party” and a price of 20 Euros a bottle.

He added: “We’ve got the t-shirt match and we have even got a wee bit of advertising as well.”

One chuffed fan who purchased two half bottles for 10 Euros each jokingly told Andy: “You’re not a daft ****, are you?”

Allan added: “We’re going to the game tonight and hopefully it will be 2-1 Scotland.”

It comes as Tartan Army chiefs have urged the Scotland team to raise their game and beat Switzerland tonight.

Scotland, not Switzerland, must set the tempo in tonight’s make-or-break Euro 2024 match

Steve Clarke’s men need victory in Cologne to keep their Euro 2024 hopes alive and make up for the 5-1 hammering by Germany.

The players have been challenged to repay the 200,000 fans who’ve travelled to the tournament with a performance to be proud of.

Hamish Husband, 66, of the Association of Tartan Army Clubs, said: “Our team owe it to the fans to display the same passion that we have shown.

“We’re here in massive numbers and locals have taken us to their hearts.

“Now we want the team to play with their hearts and give us back pride.”

If Scotland can get a result tonight, they will go into Sunday’s final group tie against Hungary with a chance of qualifying for the knockout rounds in a tourney for the first time.
