Scotland Euros star says goodbye as he exits club after ten years for Bulgaria
IT’S one of the unlikelier moves of the summer.
But a member of Scotland‘s Euro 2024 squad will spend next season playing in Bulgarian football after he made the major decision to leave.
And that man is Liam Cooper, who has said goodbye to Leeds United after ten years at the club, seven of them as captain.
He’s joining CSKA Sofia on a two-year deal.
That’s after it was reported that he gave his word to the club’s illustrious former stars Stiliyan Petrov and Dimitar Berbatov.
Petrov is also a hero at Celtic while Berbatov was a legend at Manchester Utd.

In an emotional farewell message, he wrote: “To the best in the land.
“After 10 years, 7 as your captain, it’s time to say goodbye.
“When I arrived at LUFC I had one ambition and that was to leave th shirt in a better position than when I arrived. I do believe I have done that, with the help and support of some incredible people.”
The Scot went onto namecheck former boss Marcelo Bielsa for making him “a better player, a better leader and a better man”.
Signing off with a word for current Leeds boss Daniel Farke, Copper says: “As I move on to the next chapter of my career, I will look back and be very proud but also hungry for more.
“Stay loud and stay proud. I’ll see you on the terraces.”
He joins the likes of Billy Gilmour and Scott McTominay in moving abroad after the Euros, with both men starting new careers at Napoli in Serie A.
