SCOTT McTOMINAY could become the most expensive Scottish player ever after Serie A side Napoli agreed a £25.5million fee with Manchester United.

The 27-year-old has still to agree personal terms and commit to the move.

But the McTominay deal, should it go through, would beat Kieran Tierney‘s £25m move from Celtic to Arsenal in 2019.

Napoli are also understood to have included significant add-ons into the transfer package.

Old Trafford midfielder McTominay has been with United since he was a schoolboy and will now weigh up his future.

The current Scotland national team Player of the Year, McTominay has been a talisman for boss Steve Clarke.

United are willing to let him leave as they chase a deal for PSG midfielder Manuel Ugarte.

McTominay’s Scotland team-mate Billy Gilmour, who played for Brighton at the weekend, is also close to an £18m move to Antonio Conte‘s side.

Napoli got their first league win of the season yesterday with a 3-0 home victory over Bologna.

Meanwhile, fellow Scotland international Che Adams has emulated Denis Law and become the first Scot to score for Torino in over 60 years.

The striker moved to the Italian outfit on a free transfer after his Southampton contract expired, and had previously made substitute appearances against Cosenza and AC Milan.

He made his first start yesterday against Europa League winners Atalanta and assisted Ivan Ilic’s equaliser before striking the winner himself.

Law scored ten goals in his time in Turin, but only stayed for one season before returning to the UK to join Manchester United.
