Scotland discover opponents for 2025 Women’s Rugby World Cup

Bryan Easson’s side have been drawn against Canada, Wales and Fiji in Pool B after the draw on The One Show this evening.

Hosts England are joined in Pool A by Australia, USA and Samoa, while holders New Zealand are in Pool B with Ireland – who beat the Black Ferns at WXV recently – plus Japan and Spain.  France, Italy, South Africa and Brazil make up Pool D.

Rachel Malcolm was at the draw along with the captains from the other home nations.

The Scotland captain added: “We’re pretty used to playing Wales. We’ve played them a huge number of times – it’s always super-close, so we’re excited.”

She also believes the World Cup, which will be played across eight cities in England between August 22 and September 27 next year – can be a pivotal moment for women’s sport.

She added: “As players we are all super passionate about growing our game.

“I think right now the standard of women’s rugby is the best it has ever been, so this is the best time to try and get as many eyes on the game as possible.”

The match schedule will be confirmed next week.
