RJ Mcleod’s new owners attracted by prospects in renewables

Hello and welcome to our daily digest of business, financial and economic news from around Scotland.

RJ McLeod is one of Scotland’s largest privately owned civil engineering and building contractors

RJ MCLEOD

1. One of Scotland’s largest independent construction and civil engineering firms has been taken over.

RJ Mcleod (Contractors) was founded in 1951 and had annual turnover of more than £210 million.

It has been snapped up by OCU Group, a utilities infrastructure specialist, which said the deal would see the enlarged group book revenue greater than £800 million.

The new owner signalled its intention to retain the RJ McLeod brand while retaining all 400 staff and operating locations.

OCU said it was attracted to the deal by the growing presence of RJ McLeod in onshore renewables such as wind farms, hydro and battery storage.
