Rangers’ incoming transfer target and Scotland keeper tipped for another sport

LIAM KELLY and Zander Clark are vying for a place on the plane to Germany in Steve Clarke’s Scotland squad.

But the Euro 2024 glove rivals have proven themselves sharp shooters in a completely different sport.

They’re determined to show safe hands for Scotland when the team flies out for the tournament opener on June 14.

The national team boss has named a 28-man long-list and will trim that down to 26 over the next 10 days.

Four goalkeepers were named among the pool of players who’ll be put through their paces at Lesser Hampden and a camp in Spain where Scotland face Gibraltar before a send-off against Finland next weekend.

And 24 of the Euro hopefuls got together before the hard work and preparations began in Glasgow on Thursday.

Only Scott McTominay, Che Adams, Scott McKenna and Greg Taylor were missing as Scottish darts ace Alan Soutar threw on an oche exhibition for the Tartan Army heroes.

The World Championship contender is a big football fan too and has previously held similar masterclass sessions with Northern Ireland‘s squad.

That time he downed Rangers captain Steven Davis at the arras – but it’s a potential Gers recruit who caught his eye on Scotland duty.

Asked who stood out from the squad on social media he said: “Big Zander Clark and Liam Kelly were decent players.”

Sunsport exclusively revealed last week how Kelly was on his way BACK to Ibrox at the end of his Motherwell deal.

And he’ll be handy for any darts tournaments too, judging by Arbroath fan Soutar’s analysis.

He was all smiles as he posed with the team and Arbroath CEO Paul Reid – though the same couldn’t be said for all the players.

As the likes of Ben Doak, Andy Robertson and Lyndon Dykes gathered round Soutar and his Saltire t-shirt – Kieran Tierney looked stern in the background.

PDC ace Soutar added: “Yeah, seen his puss.”

But as he shared the picture with the Euro-bound heroes he wrote: “If Carlsberg did darts exhibitions.

“Just the best day ever!!! We’re the famous Tartan Army and we’re off to Germany.”

Scotland players held the darts sesh ahead of reporting for duty in Glasgow on Wednesday night.

They met at a city centre hotel before their pre-championship training camp, warm-up games and coming face to face with host nation, Switzerland, Hungary and more than 100,000 Tartan Army supporters in Germany.
