Rangers’ Howat immensely proud of Scotland debut

Kirsty Howat says her Scotland debut was “one of the proudest moments” in her footballing career.

The Rangers forward came on as a substitute in the Scots’ 2-0 win over Slovakia earlier this month to make her international appearance.

“I was absolutely delighted to be given the opportunity,” she told RangersTV, external.

“It was massive for me and my family.

“It is a dream come true, I think it is every little girl’s dream growing up to be able to go and represent their country. To have been able to do that and say I have done it is amazing.

“I was obviously nervous but I just tried to do the basic things well, it was good to get 20 minutes with the girls.

“I think for me I have obviously had a few big injuries which has not been ideal but to represent your country is one of the proudest moments of my career so far.

“I have been working hard to get to this point and I was just really happy that Pedro [Martinez Losa] put his faith in me and put me on the pitch.”
