Poland 1-2 Scotland PLAYER RATINGS: Who was crucial at both ends? Did Ben Doak live up to the growing hype?

A sensational stoppage-time header by Andy Robertson earned Scotland a victory  against Poland and  kept alive their chances of staying in the top tier of the Nations League.

Making his 80th appearance for his country, the Scotland captain rose above the home defence in the dying moments to bullet a header high into the net.

Coming after Kamil Piatkowski’s stunning shot had cancelled out John McGinn’s early opener, the win relegated Poland and lifted Scotland into third place in their group.

Second place was beyond them as Croatia got a point at home to Portugal.

But Steve Clarke’s team now have a playoff in March that could spare them a drop into the competition’s second tier.

Paul Forsyth examines the performances on a dramatic night in Warsaw.

 Craig Gordon – 7.5

Alert and switched on. Tipped one shot over and blocked another two with his body. A phenomenal strike beat him

Anthony Ralston – 6

Strong and eager, if a little hesitant at times. His area of the pitch was where Scotland were most vulnerable.

John Souttar – 8

Physically and technically strong. His cross for the winner was sumptuous, his block to deny Kaminski sensational.

Grant Hanley – 6

Dogged and discipined, although he and Souttar, as a unit, allowed too many easy balls over the top.

Andy Robertson – 7

Apart from the odd slack pass, what a way to mark his 80th cap. His stoppage-time header nearly took the net away.

Billy Gilmour – 7.5

Inspired first-half display. His brilliant pass led to the opening goal and a dipping shot came off the underside of the bar.

Kenny McLean – 6.5

Sharp, tidy and put in a power of work between the boxes. One surge forward deserved a better outcome.

Ben Doak – 7.5

Set up McGinn’s goal and once again showed no hesitation in taking on his marker. His sense of adventure was thrilling.

Scott McTominay 7

Disruptive and dangerous. Battered one shot off the keeper’s legs and had another tipped on to the post.

John McGinn – 7

Strong, hungry and on the scoresheet again. Picked out the bottom left-hand corner with a precise right-foot finish.

Lyndon Dykes – 7

A sturdy foil but also a goal threat. One spin was followed by a shot into the sidenet. Had a great header saved.
