Pat Cummins has been left out of Australia’s squad for the upcoming England and Scotland tour. Western Australia all-rounder Cooper Connolly gets a call-up while Jake Fraser-McGurk has also been included in the squad.

Mitchell Marsh will lead the Aussies in the white ball series which boasts 3 T20 internationals against Scotland and 3 T20Is and 5 ODIs against England. Cummins’ absence is related to workload management and was pre-planned according to Cricket Australia.

The Aussies will host India in a five match Border-Gavaskar series and Cummins will have a much needed rest to keep himself fresh. The ODI World Cup winning captain played a pivotal role in Australia’s T20 World Cup journey where they failed to get past the Super Eight stage.

Fraser-McGurk is anticipated to make his T20I debut in the upcoming series. The Delhi Capitals star burst into the scene in IPL 2024 and also travelled to the T20 World Cup as a reserve.

He is believed to be the perfect successor of David Warner who bid adieu to cricket recently. fast bowling duo Spencer Johnson and Xavier Bartlett will form a formidable bowling lineup alongside Josh Hazlewood and Nathan Ellis.

Chief Selector George Bailey said, “This tour gives us a great opportunity to bring in some new players in the absence of David Warner and Matthew Wade, as well as giving some senior players time to prepare for the home summer and a busy first half of next year.

“We are particularly pleased to offer Cooper his first opportunity in the T20 squad having introduced the likes of Jake, Spencer, Xavier and Aaron in the past 12 months.

“They are exciting prospects to join the likes of Cameron Green, Nathan Ellis and Josh Inglis in the white-ball setup.”
