Over dykes, ditches and oceans, Scotland’s Tartan Army are heading to Germany – Inside World Football
June 7 – Scotland’s Tartan Army in recent years have rarely had the opportunity to march to football’s biggest championships, but they are massing at the borders for Euro 2024.
A country famous for their unity when it comes to marauding south across Hadrian’s so-woefully ineffective wall, nevertheless had the feathers of one of their political elite ruffled by the misreading of a headline.
Former Scottish secretary to the United States and openly gay Susan Stewart posted on Facebook of having a “wee moment of panic” when she read the headline ‘Dykes ruled out of Euro 24’.
“Thought, they can’t do that surely, and I’ve got my tix!” she posted.
But it was relief all round when she realised the Dykes referred to was striker Lyndon, who will miss the tournament through injury.
Happy days, all those men in kilts can carry their rainbow flags with pride to the opening match of the finals in Munich against Germany and then on to Dortmund to meet the Swiss and Stuttgart for the Hungarians.
