1. Optimism among Scotland’s manufacturers has dropped into negative territory for the first time in four years as trading deteriorates and costs rise.
Scottish Engineering’s quarterly survey found that confidence was at -19 per cent for the final three months of 2024 as orders, exports and output all remained in negative territory for the second consecutive quarter.
Staffing intentions turned negative for the first time since March 2021 as companies did not add to their workforces.
