Oli McBurnie ‘set to join European club in shock move’ as fans left stunned
OLI McBURNIE is closing in on a shock move to Spain, according to a report.
The Scotland international has been out of contract since being released by Sheffield United and has been weighing up his next move ever since.
He left Bramall Lane along with NINE other players after the club suffered relegation from the Premier League last term.
But the 28-year-old is now set for a stunning return back to top flight football – but not in England.
Instead, he has reportedly agreed terms with a Spanish club and is expected to make the surprise transfer in the coming days.
That’s according to Fabrizio Romano – who claims the striker‘s next destination will be Gran Canaria after he agreed a deal with Las Palmas this week.

The transfer guru broke the bizarre deal on social media and revealed the player’s medical has been pencilled in for Friday.
But his followers couldn’t believe the news as one punter branded the deal “the most random transfer of all time”.
Another agreed: “Most random transfer of the summer.”
Someone else commented: “Such a rogue one 😂.”
While another laughed: “That’s a Fifa transfer if I’ve ever seen one 😂.”
McBurnie was capped 16 times for Scotland between 2018 and 2021 but he failed to score a single goal during that time.
His crucial penalty in the play-off shootout win over Serbia was the only time he found the net for Steve Clarke‘s men.
McBurnie was born and grew up in England but he always had a close connection to Scotland – and Rangers.
He was linked with a move to his boyhood club when he was released by Sheffield United, but he’s headed for an interesting new chapter in Spain instead.
But speaking on the Stomping Ground Podcast in April, the striker left the door open to a potential switch to Govan at one point before he retires.
He said: “Listen, Rangers is a special club.
“Have you ever been to the Old Firm? I’ve been to plenty of Old Firms and I’ve never experienced a game like it, either playing or watching.
“Most people who have ever been to them will say the same.
“Growing up, I was always a big Rangers fan and it’s something I’ve always wanted to do. It’s just about timing.

“I hope one day, by the end of my career, I play for Rangers. I hope I get to experience that side of it.
“If I don’t, I don’t. But I hope by the end of my career I can say I’ve played in an Old Firm at one point.”
