Nedim Bajrami ‘here to win trophies’ with Rangers

Bajrami spoke to former Empoli team-mate Liam Henderson and Josh Doig of Sassuolo, both Scots, about joining Rangers.

“I just signed on the last day of the transfer window and it was a really stressful day,” he explained. “I was really happy to join Rangers, such a great club with history.

“Then I immediately went into the national team, so I didn’t meet everyone on deadline day. I just played two games with Albania national team and, yeah, I’m ready.

“I’m a player who likes to play forward, who likes to assist to help the team to score. I can play also on the left wing, but my favourite position is the 10 behind the strikers.

“With Liam, I didn’t speak a lot because he played for Celtic, but we are good friends. I spoke more with Josh and he told me, ‘you will love it there and not just the football but the life’.”

Bajrami scored Albania’s opener in their 2-1 loss to Italy during Euro 2024 and he commented: “To play in the Euros for me was a really nice experience. I didn’t know that I had scored the fastest goal at the Euros, they told me after the game.

“I was happy because to break a record after 20 years. I hope it stays forever, but you never know in football.”
