National award win for Aviemore resort – Scottish Business News
ONE OF the Highlands’ leading hotels has celebrated success at a national awards ceremony further underlining its reputation for excellence.
Macdonald Aviemore Resort, located in the heart of the Cairngorms, was crowned the north of Scotland’s best four-star venue at the Scottish Hotel Awards. It was a night to remember with the resort also highly commended in the family-friendly hotel category.
The winners were announced during a gala ceremony held at the DoubleTree by Hilton Glasgow Central with judges impressed by the Aviemore team’s commitment to providing first-class customer service.
Kenny McMillan, managing director, returned to Aviemore in 2023 following a spell as general manager of Inverness’ Drumossie Hotel. Before leaving, Drumossie clinched a double as it claimed honours for employer of the year at the Highland Business Awards and the Highlands and Islands Thistle Awards respectively.
He said: “We are delighted to have received two accolades at the Scottish Hotel Awards. It’s great recognition for our team at Macdonald Aviemore Resort who work hard to provide the best experience for all our customers.
“We are all passionate about what we do and ensuring guests want to come back time and time again. We are always looking to elevate the experience we provide and are proud to be able to offer the best of accommodation, food and activities in such a breathtaking part of the world.
“We hope there will be more recognition for our team to come as we keep raising our standards.”
Macdonald Aviemore Resort recently unveiled a new leadership team to help oversee strategic operations and deliver further growth across all key service lines, including leisure, food and drink, conferences and events.
Dating back more than 50 years, Macdonald Aviemore Resort is a collection of four hotels, 19 luxury woodland lodges, a conference centre, the Macdonald Spey Valley Championship Golf Course and luxury shopping.
In recent years, a new clubhouse has been built for the Spey Valley golf course while the popular Giovanni’s Italian Ristorante has been refurbished to sit alongside the resort’s signature restaurant, Aspects. Significant improvements have also been made to lift the Macdonald Morlich and Macdonald Aviemore hotels from three to four-star status as part of a multi-million pound investment.
